Dr. Cohen is a Diplomat of The American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Fellow of the American College of Surgery. Dr. Cohen was trained in General Surgery, and Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  He has been a practicing OB-GYN physician at Valley Baptist Medical Center and Director and President of Valley Women’s Clinic since 1982.  He has also been a consulting physician at Dolly Vinsant Memorial Hospital in San Benito and at Columbia Valley Regional Hospital in Brownsville.  Dr. Cohen is an active member of the Valley Baptist Medical Center and has served as Past Chairman of the OB/GYN department, and in multiple other Medical Staff committees.

As a certified specialist in OB/GYN, Dr. Cohen specializes in every phase of a woman’s health, performs office surgery such as electrosurgery, cryosurgery, and colposcopies.   Routine and annual health maintenance for gynecology: prevention screenings, pap smears, breast exams, bone density and mammograms.  Dr. Cohen evaluates and treats urinary incontinence, bladder voiding and urethral profiling. In addition, Dr. Cohen has a special interest in the clinical management and treatment of the infertile couple: specializing in infertility counseling, artificial insemination and semen washing.

Dr. Cohen performs major Gynecological surgical procedures such as: abdominal, vaginal and laparascopy hysterectomies, major gynecology cancer surgery and operative laparascopy, and multiple procedures for treatment of urinary incontinence.

Dr. Cohen has always been in the forefront of new advancements and procedures in his field of practice. Introducing, for the first time in Harlingen: laparascopy assisted vaginal hysterectomy and recently Tension Free Vaginal Tape, a new surgical treatment with excellent results for the treatment of urinary incontinence.
